Turmeric Tea for Joint Pain

In my early days of implementing the Wahls Protocol, I have a very clear memory of standing in my sweet San Francisco apartment creating and trying various concoctions to help with my relentless joint pain. You name it, I tried it. I eventually tried making a turmeric tea which to my surprise, helped my pain significantly. I would make the ingredients in a batch and store it in the fridge so I could easily have a cup of it each night before bed.

Turmeric, also known as curcumin, is a powerful ingredient that helps the body combat autoimmune diseases through regulating inflammatory pathways within the body. It has been shown to minimize joint pain in individuals suffering from arthritis and other inflammatory processes.

Turmeric Tea Recipe:


  • turmeric powder
  • honey (I prefer locally sourced honey for added benefits against seasonal allergies)
  • lemon
  • black pepper
  • water


  • In a dish, mix roughly 1 tablespoon of honey and 1 teaspoon of turmeric, incorporating the two into a thick paste.
  • Add the paste mixture with 8 oz of hot water, mixing well to dissolve the paste.
  • Add 1-2 slices of fresh lemon
  • Sprinkle black pepper to the tea (black pepper helps the body absorb the turmeric)
  • Continuously stir the tea to avoid settling, sip, and enjoy the healing properties of this yummy tea!
